Safe Church Training

August 10 1:00 pm

Safe Church, Safe Communities
Previously known as “Safeguarding God’s People/Children,” The Episcopal Church has adopted a new training program for volunteers around church safety from healthy boundaries, inclusion, to signs of inappropriate interactions to look out for in our communities, and the theological basis for why it matters!

This training is REQUIRED by the national church and the diocese for all who are currently, or intend to, volunteer or serve in any ministry involving children and vulnerable adults like the following ministries:
Children’s Chapel
Vacation Bible School
Episcopal Youth Community (EYC meetings and trips)
Eucharistic Visitors
Special Events involving children (Trunk or Treat)

*If you are already a member of one of these groups, or think your ministry fits these categories, and are not sure if you are trained, reach out to Mother Ashley*

The training is open and recommended for anyone to take who wants to be equipped with the knowledge to keep our church safe and it lasts for 3 years!

If you plan to volunteer in the church over the next 3 years, regardless of the ministry, your clergy and staff encourage you to take part in this first wave of the churchwide training initiative. The training does include a background check. If this is a concern, call or email Mother Ashley.

The training can be completed online, but on August 10th from 1:00 – 4:00, we will offer an in-person training for all volunteers! Click the registration below for the in-person training, or you can use the QR code.

If you would like to do the training before August 10th, or are in a ministry listed above who meets before then, email Mother Ashley and she will send you the instructions. (Doing the training online only takes between 1-1.5 hours!)
