What To Expect

We are a Christian community of faith rooted in the Anglican tradition. Empowered by the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacrament, we seek to know the reconciling love of God and to share that love with others.

What do you believe?

As Episcopalians, we are followers of Jesus Christ, and both our worship and our mission are in Christ’s name. In Jesus, we find that the nature of God is love, and through baptism, we share in his victory over sin and death. We rely on the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as well as the Book of Common Prayer, which unites all Episcopal Churches in a shared life of prayer and sacraments.

Will I have to introduce myself in church?

No. Our Ushers will provide welcome materials to first-time guests during the service. We do not ask guests to stand and introduce themselves, but hope you share your contact information with us so we can connect with you after your visit.

Where do I go when I get there?

Friendly greeters will welcome you at the back of the church or what we call the Nave,  (the Illinois street entrance of the church) and provide you with a Bulletin to participate in worship.

Fellowship time at 8:00 a.m. Rite I, 10:30 a.m. Rite II.

May I participate in communion?

All baptized Christians, including children, are invited to share in Holy Communion. Gluten-free wafers are available upon request. Those who are not baptized are invited to come forward and receive a blessing. If you are interested in being baptized, please speak to one of the clergy after the service.

Do you have Sunday school?

Yes. There are classes for all ages, although we do take a short hiatus from Sunday School programming during the summer months (June - August).

We also have Children’s Chapel that begins at 10:35 (following the processional hymn) and ends after the peace. This allows for our younger participants to have a little more freedom to learn the message of the week in an age-appropriate setting.

Visit the Christian Education pages for more information about Sunday School activities for adults and youth.

Do you have a nursery?

Yes. Our nursery provides care for infants through 24 months; children 24 months or older are provided nursery care in a separate space. Sunday School opportunities for children begin at age 3. The nursery is available Sundays from 9:00 a.m. until the 12:00 pm, and during special events.

Nursery employees are experienced childcare workers who create a safe, nurturing environment for all children.

Do you have any services during the week?

We do not currently have services during the week, but there are many opportunities for fellowship on Wednesday evenings during the school year.

Lectionary

The Episcopal Church lectionary is our guide to scripture readings and lessons appointed for worship in accordance with the liturgy of the Church.

The liturgical calendar is available here as a resource for study, reflection or planning. This is also an excellent resource for all parishioners, and especially LEMS, as they prepare for worship services.

The Lectionary is available at: http://www.lectionarypage.net.

Altar Flowers

Donation for Altar Flowers

Many people have special days in the year which they commemorate. Flowers on the altar of Holy Trinity can fittingly mark the anniversary of a birth, baptism, confirmation, marriage or death, or may be used as an expression of joy of thanksgiving at any time. When flowers are given a special announcement is printed in the Sunday bulletin.

Anyone may give flowers at Holy Trinity for any Sunday desired. If more than one gift is received for a Sunday, the additional money is placed in the general Flower Fund. After Sunday services, flowers from the altar are given at the discretion of the clergy to sick or shut-in members of the parish.

Currently, the suggested donation for Altar Flowers is $100 ($50 for Easter).

Christmas and Easter gifts are used for the flowers and plants which decorate our church on those festivals.

(Please remember that there are no flowers on the altar during Lent.)

If you would like to make an online donation for flowers on a particular Sunday, and/or for Christmas, Easter, or the Thanksgiving Day services, please contact the Parish Office 432.683.4207.
